WHAT IS A SENIOR MOVE MANAGER?

Senior Move Managers assist older adults and their families with the emotional and physical aspects of either relocating to a new home or "aging in place." We have backgrounds in social work, healthcare, nursing, and psychology, which allow us to help our clients spend their golden years in a healthy, comfortable environment.

AN ESSENTIAL SERVICE IN 2015

By 2030, older adults will account for twenty percent of the U.S. population. Most families today are geographically dispersed, and adult children often have difficulty helping with any sort of transition or long-term care due to career and family obligations.  Also, many  older Americans haven't changed homes in several decades; those considering a relocation may have to significantly downsize their current belongings.

 

Inevitably, this process takes a physical and emotional toll on both older adults and their children. Next Step Home, with expertise and experience in Senior Move Management, helps older adults in the Hudson Valley area of New York State make the transition into a new home or reorganize current living space as painlessly as possible. We offer the following services:

 

  • Organizing belongings and furniture
  • Creating a floor plan for re-purposing existing space
  • Packing and unpacking
  • Hiring and overseeing a moving company
  • Sale, donation and disposition of goods

 

...and anything else to assist the client in making this transition.  Each client's needs are unique and each job is customized to suit your needs.  Clients can choose some or all of our services.

ABOUT US

Next Step Home provides professional support during one of the most difficult times in an adult's life. Services include the organization, transfer and disposition of personal and household belongings. We assist seniors in the process of moving to a new living situation, including smaller homes, apartments, senior residences or adult care facilities.

 

We also provide advice and coordination to residents who plan to stay in their present homes, but need to downsize or modify their surroundings to provide a safer and more accommodating living environment.

 

An initial one-hour evaluation and assessment is available with no obligation and at no cost. Next Step Home is a member the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM). All Next Step Home personnel are fully vetted, trained, and insured.

COLLEEN MOUNTFORD

SENIOR MOVE SPECIALIST

Colleen has over twenty-five years of experience in human services.  She is currently president of the Kingston Sunrise Rotary Club and  a member of the Ulster County Task Force on Elder Abuse. She has served as treasurer and secretary of Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of New York State and a leadership council member of Project Hope: A Woman to Woman Mentoring Program. She has a B.S. in Education from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and an associate of applied science degree from Nassau Community College.
